Candles came through with a much needed assist for my personal and mental wellbeing in 2020. Take a bath, light a candle, disappear into the abyss. Your home is now your office? Preserve a tiny sense of self with a calming aroma and very smol fire. After I burned through my entire stash in mid-April (including the One Peach Candle my sister got me as a joke last Christmas), I discovered Cadence Candle Company.
Cadence is under two years old and already offers an increasingly great selection of scents, arranged on the website by category: floral, fresh, herbaceous, sweet, warm, and woody. This, along with comprehensive descriptions, makes buying sight unsmelled so much easier.
But the vibe doesn’t end with the scent, as each candle comes with a playlist! Light your mood candle, turn up the playlist, start the hot water, and your at home spa is complete. A Cadence Levitate candle is headed to Meagan in the Bronx. Levitate is scented with white tea, thyme, and bergamot. Described as creating a relaxing and calm mood, “allow Levitate’s harmonic fragrances bring you to a calming state of mind. In need of some relaxation and tranquility? This candle is for you.”
After 40 hours of burn time, you can keep the relaxation vibes alive by reusing the glass, as I find these to be the perfect size for putting my plant propagations in soil. The key to reuse is to dump the small amount of remaining liquid wax in the trash, and then wipe the glass clean with paper towels, newspaper, or a rag at the end of it’s life.
Great for yourself, wonderful as gifts, and the customer service is top notch. Don’t be predictable and buy yet another Diptyque; buy two Cadence Candles instead. Shop small!
